PORTLAND – Stanislaus State put up a tough fight against Central Washington before falling in the second half in a 74-58 defeated at the LCEF Court to open the GNAC/CCAA Challenge on Friday.
Three Warriors scored in double digits with
Reana Hardin leading with 12 points.
Cassidy Sanders-Curry and
Ana Burch each scored 11 points, and Britney Livingston added nine points.
Riley Holladay led the Warriors with nine rebounds.
Stan State started off strong with a five-point run, giving them a 6-1 lead. It was an even game at the end of the first half, with the Wildcats slightly ahead 31-29. The Wildcats went on a 10-point run in the third quarter, and add an eight-point run in the final quarter to pull away.
The Warriors shot 32.7 percent on the night with 40 percent of their three-point shots. They converted on 66.7 percent of their free throws.
Central Washington was led by Taylor Baird with 15 points and JonNae Richardson with 13 rebounds, both game-highs.
A major different on the night was second chance points with CWU out-scoring the Warriors 16-4 with 15 offense rebounds. The Wildcats also scored 28 points off turnovers.
The Warriors will be back on the court on Saturday to challenge the hosting team Concordia Portland.
