Warriors improve to 3-0 in CCAA play with win over HSU

TURLOCK – Stanislaus State women's basketball remains undefeated in league play, as they post another victory, defeating Humboldt State 54-45, at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena Saturday night.
 
Advancing to 4-6 overall and 3-0 in the CCAA, the Warriors are building momentum with their three game winning streak. The Jacks fell to 2-8 overall, and 1-3 in conference.
 
Reana Hardin led the Warriors with 21 points on 7 of 14 shooting from the field. She surpassed her previous career high of 21 points, which she set at Cal State San Bernardino on Feb. 12 of last season. Saturday night, Hardin was also 3 for 4 from the 3-point arch.

However, the rest the team combined to shoot 10-for-46 overall and just 1-for-13. For the night, Stan State shot just 28.3 percent.
 
The Warriors went on a 13-0 run to take a 14-point lead at 21-7 in the first quarter. The Jacks fought their way back, tying up the board at 26-26. Stan State was able to take back the game with 10-point leads at three different times during the third and fourth quarters.
 
The Warriors next highest scorers were Cassidy Sanders-Curry with nine points and Erika Larsen with eight points.
 
Two Warriors — Riley Holladay and Sanders-Curry — totaled nine rebounds for the night as the Warriors out-rebounded HSU, 41-25.
 
Tyra Turner led the Jacks with 14 points and Catharine Reese had 12. Riann Thaver was the Humboldt State's leading rebounder with seven.
 
Next Sunday the Warriors are on the road for their final Division I competition of the season against San Jose State before the Christmas break.
