LA JOLLA —
Cassidy Sanders-Curry posted a double-double and scored 20-plus points for the second consecutive night but Stanislaus State suffered its first conference loss of the season at UC San Diego.
Beth Mounier led the way with 21 points for the Tritons as UCSD defended home court, 69-63, Friday night. UCSD improved to 9-3, 5-1 CCAA.
Sanders-Curry scored 24 points and pulled 10 rebounds in losing effort as the Warriors dropped to 6-8 overall and 4-1 in the CCAA. Heading into Friday night's game, the Stan State was the only undefeated team in the conference.
Sanders-Curry followed her 23-point night Thursday at Cal State San Bernardino with a 24-point game, her third straight double-digit scoring game and eighth of the season. She was 6 of 16 from the field with four three-pointers (on seven tries) plus eight free throws. On this road trip, Sanders-Curry netted 47 points and 17 rebounds. She was 12-for-25 shooting from the floor and 8 of 12 from distance.
Reana Hardin had 14 points and five rebounds and
Ana Burch chipped in nine points. As a team, however, the Warriors shot just 29 percent on the night and was out-rebounded 52-33.
Stanislaus will turn the calendar and head into 2017 with the next four conference games — and six of the next eight — at home at Fitzpatrick Arena.
