SAN FRANCISCO —
Kylie Ragsdale pitched a shutout and two Warriors each belted a two-run dinger as Stanislaus State won game one of the series at San Francisco State, 4-0, on Friday.
SF State returned the favor with a 4-1 win in game two for the doubleheader split at SFSU Softball Field.
Cassidy Duke and
Ruby Quiralte each hit a two-run homer to supply all of the scoring offense as the Warriors opened the four-game set with a commanding shutout victory. Ragsdale went the distance, gave up just four hits and struck out three in her first complete game shutout.
The Warriors are now 14-11 overall and 11-9 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association before tomorrow's twinbill back at San Francisco State (10-10, 7-7 CCAA).
Duke's two-run shot int he fifth inning broke a scoreless game that also scored
Natalie Dorsey who pinch ran for
Katelyn McDonald. McDonald had doubled down the right-field line with one out for a 2-for-4 game.
Quiralte's homer came in the seventh inning, a deep shot to center that also plated Duke who had reached on a fielder's choice.
That was all the offense Ragsdale needed. Despite allowing a base runner in all but one inning in the game, she managed to get out of jams, leaving two Gators on bases in the second and seventh innings. She had a 1-2-3 inning in the fourth and gave up five hits but never allowed a baserunner to get past second.
In game two, SF State scored three runs in the second and took a 4-0 lead in the fifth. The Warriors got a run back in the sixth on a
Brianna Martens single to center, scoring Quiralte.
Karina Callazo was tagged with the loss in the second game. She threw six innings and gave up four runs on six hits. She struck out seven batters and walked two.
