TURLOCK – The Stanislaus State women's basketball team was unable to keep up to UC San Diego's shooting efficiency as they lost to the top CCAA team 68-55 Friday night at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
Now 10-11 overall and 8-4 in league, the Warriors made a run in the third quarter but weren't able to overcome the early deficit built by the Tritons (15-3, 11-1 CCAA)
Wins by Cal State East Bay and Cal Poly Pomona meant the Warriors are now tied for third place with the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos heading to Saturday's game against Cal State San Bernardino.

Lizzy Alexander had a hot night at the hoop posting a career-high with 15 points — all of them from behind 3-point arc. She went 5-for-11 from distance, netting more than half of the Warriors' seven total three pointers. Despite playing with a sore knee,
Riley Holladay followed with 14 points with three assists.
Erika Larsen was scrappy at the hoop leading the Warriors with seven rebounds.
Cassidy Sanders-Curry and
Ana Burch tallied five rebounds apiece, and
Reana Hardin caught four. However the Warriors were out-rebounded 34-27 with 29 UCSD defensive boards.
The Tritons took control early, ending the first quarter with a 10-point lead on the Warriors. Stan State was unable to fight their way back in the second quarter, going into half time with a 15-point deficit, 22-37.
The Warriors made run late in the third quarter, starting an 8-0 run that stretching into the fourth quarter. A Burch trey at 8:00 to play cut the deficit to seven points. In the third, the Warriors held UCSD to just nine points, including zero during three-plus minute stretch.
As a team Stan State shot 31.3 percent from the field, and 61.5 percent from behind the free throw line.
Cassie Macleod led the Tritons with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Beth Mounier had 12 points, and Dalayna Sampton totaled eight rebounds.
