Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Stanislaus rebounds with win over San Francisco State

TURLOCK – Quickly bouncing back from Friday's loss, Stanislaus State women's basketball ended the weekend with a 58-45 win over San Francisco State at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena Saturday night.

The Warriors (7-9, 5-2 CCAA) were off to a slow start, ending the first half down 23-25. Stan State made a quick turn around after the half time intermission, tying up the score 30 seconds into the third quarter, and keeping the lead for the remainder of the game.

Seniors Cassidy Sanders-Curry and Riley Holladay had outstanding nights, each adding a double-double to their list of accomplishments. Sanders-Curry led the team with 23 points, going 10-for-16 from the field. This was Sanders-Curry's third time scoring 20 points or more in the past two weekends, as well as her third double-double in the past four competitions.  She totaled 14 rebounds to lead her team, and added two assists, two steals, and one block.

Holladay also reached two personal milestones, increasing her season-high to 14 points, and matching her season-high of 11 rebounds for the second straight night.

The Warriors went 24-for-74 from the field, shooting 32.4 percent and keeping the Gators shooting at 25.8 percent. Stan State out-rebounded San Francisco State 46-to-41.

Coming back from halftime, the Warriors kept the Gators from hitting a field goal  for a 13-minute stretch. In the third quarter alone the Gators went 0-for-17 from the floor. That allowed the Warriors to turn a six-point deficit into a 12-point lead.

Kaitlin DaDalt led the Gators offense with 12 points. She also had two assists and two blocks. Kayla Watterson led with 13 rebounds. SF State is now 2-12, 0-7 CCAA.

The Stan State women will be back in Turlock next weekend for their second of three home weekends this month. They will host Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night, and Cal State L.A. on Saturday.
