SERIES NOTES: The Warriors now 0-4-2 in the last six meetings against Cal State L.A. — all of them close contests. The four losses were all by one goal and the two ties were decided by penalty kicks during postseason play. The last time Stan State won in Los Angeles was Oct. 6, 2006 (3-2, OT) as the Golden Eagles hold a 21-4-3 all-time mark … Cal State Dominguez Hills, too, had the upper-hand in history with a 18-4-2 all-time record against Stan State. The last two meetings were decided in PKs and a 2-1 OT loss in Carson in 2016. Prior to that the Warriors were 4-1-0 in five meetings between 2011 and 2015. The last win in Carson was Sept. 18, 2011 (1-0 over the then 23rd ranked Toros).

CCAA TO USE POINTS PER MATCH AVERAGE: Due to the wildfires that have plagued Northern California and forced cancellation of soccer matches earlier this month, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) will revise its procedure for men's and women's soccer standings and seedings for the 2017 season. With the new calculations the current men's and women's soccer standings are as follows:

Men's Soccer Standings (as of Oct. 23)   Women's Soccer Standings (as of Oct. 23)

TOURNAMENT BERTHS UP FOR GRABS: Six teams are in the middle of the pack in the CCAA Standings as they vie for the final two spots in the top six to qualify for the CCAA tournament. Using the points per match average, only 0.15 points separate the fifth and 10th place teams.

TWO THREE-GOAL MATCHES: The Warriors continued their scoring prowess with six more goals in two matches last weekend with a 3-3 tie on Friday against Cal State Monterey Bay and a 3-2 OT win over Cal State East Bay on Sunday. Stan State has now scored 18 goals in the last seven matches for 24 goals this season (matching the 2016 total).

NICE WEEKEND FOR AHMED: Ahmed Mohammed enjoyed a nice weekend on home pitch as the senior scored a goal in each contest and also assisted on a goal both days. For the weekend, he tallied two goals and two assists for six points and has now scored in three consecutive games (he also scored last Sunday against Cal Poly Pomona).

OFFENSIVE CONTRIBUTORS: Freshman defender Bradlee Taylor also enjoyed a solid weekend, not just on defense, but also helping with scoring goals with corner kicks and free kicks. Taylor scored a goal and assisted on another on Friday and then assisted on a Mohammed goal on Sunday … Other goal scorers include Sean Baird, Khalil Kirksey and Matthew Waldron (penalty kick). Waldron and Kirksey also had assists.

TEAM SCORING EFFORT: The scoring depth is more evident now that the squad has scored 24 goals this season. Five different Warriors — Ahmed Mohammed, Khalil Kirksey, Sean Bender, Sean Baird and Joseph Mayorca — lead the team with three goals each. Three other players — Bradlee Taylor, Ryan Chaney and Matthew Waldron — have scored twice. In all 11 different Warriors scored goals this season.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: Cal State L.A. lost both matches by the scores of 2-1 in Arcata last weekend to Sonoma State and Humboldt State. The Golden Eagles are led by Julian Zamora with nine goals and 22 points (4 assists), which is third best in the CCAA. Goalkeeper Steven Barrera leads the conference with a .787 GAA with eight shutouts … Cal State Dominguez Hills had its five-match winning streak snapped by Sonoma State on Sunday in a 2-1 contest in Arcata. Adam Vargas and Juan Hernandez each scored five goals and Leonardo Nogueira has seven assists.
