HAYWARD – Against the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay, the Stanislaus State volleyball team was defeated in straight sets on Saturday night at the Pioneer Gym.
The Warriors fell to CSUEB 10-25, 15-25, and 16-25 and are now 3-22 overall and 2-14 in the CCAA. The Pioneers have advanced to 16-10 and 9-8 in conference play.
Sierra Adams led Stan State's offense with eight kills from the right side and
Rachel Klopfer had six kills on the outside. Klopfer led the Warriors on defense with 11 digs, libero
Kaitlyn Iwamoto had nine digs, and
Jordan Tilley had eight digs. Tilley also facilitated Stan State's offense with 22 assists.
An abundance of Warriors errors both at the net and behind the service line kept Stan State from win. The Warriors had a total of 33 errors during the match, 26 attacking errors and seven service errors. Cal State East Bay kept their errors to a minimum with 12 for the match.
Outside hitter Kiki Leuteneker led the Pioneers in the front row with 10 kills, and Katie Ireland ran CSUEB's offense with 25 assists. Ireland also led her team with 16 digs and libero Brandi Brucato had 14 digs.
Tomorrow night the Warriors will play their final match of the 2017 season against Cal State Monterey Bay at CSUMB. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
