Warrior Leader Scores 22 Against AAU
Brittney Livingston had an outstanding week of play before the holidays, leading the Warriors scoring efforts against both the University of Nevada, Reno and Academy of Art. Against Nevada Livingston scored 19 points and had four assists and four steals, all new personal bests. Against AAU just three days later she increased her scoring record once more, tallying 22 points against the Urban Knights. She went 8-for-11 (.727) from the field, 3-for-3 from the three-point arc, and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. It was Livingston's first 20-point game and the team's third of the season.
A Well-Rounded Performer
Erika Larsen had another good week before heading home for the holidays, leading in rebounds against the University of Nevada, Reno and scoring almost 20 points against Academy of Art just a few days later. Larsen had 10 rebounds against the Wolf Pack, her second time to rebound double-digits this season and the only Warrior so far to do so. Against the Urban Knights Larsen scored 18 points, a new personal best. She also led the team with nine rebounds.
Holiday Vacation
Stan State is getting back into conference play after two weeks off for the holidays, and three weeks since their last CCAA competition. The Warriors last saw the court on Dec. 15th at Academy of Art. The Warriors got back into the gym on the 27th to prepare for their upcoming games with hopes of finishing off 2017 with two more wins.
Warrior Tid-Bits
After scoring in the single digits against HSU and SSU, Zahria Hendrix got her shooting efficiency back against Nevada, scoring 16 points for the Warriors ... Lizzy Alexander led Stan State with four assists against Academy of Art, a new personal best for her ... Erika Larsen has totaled 351 rebounds in her career to date. If Larsen continues her average of 7.1 rebounds per game, she will earn her way onto the Warriors' top 10 list for rebounds in a career, in the next six games. She must exceed the current 10th place record to do so (394).
CCAA So Far
So far the Warriors haven't seen immense success in their conference matchups. Currently residing at 10th in the CCAA, Stan State has fallen significantly from their success rate of last season. The Warriors are in the bottom four of the conference in many statistical categories, whereas last season Stan State held a place as one of the top teams, specifically in defense. However, the Warriors are second in the CCAA in steals, with 10.67 per game on average. With 16 more conference games the Warriors have plenty of time to turn things around with their sights set on one of the eight spots in the CCAA championship tournament.
