TURLOCK – The Stanislaus State softball team opened the 2017 season with an impressive offensive display as the Warriors beat Holy Names, 10-2, in six innings Wednesday night at Warrior Softball Field.
Starting off their season with a win, the Warriors will head to Las Vegas for a tournament this weekend with a 1-0 mark.
Ruby Quiralte went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and drove in three runs to lead the Warrior offense.
Cassidy Duke went 3-for-3 with a homer and
Katelyn McDonald went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Every Warrior position player in the starting lineup had at least a hit in the team's 13-hit parade.
Stan State started off the year with a triple by
Nicolette Vizcaino, who scored on an error to make it 1-0. Duke took the first pitch she saw deep into left-center field for a homerun, giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead at the end of the first.
The Warriors tagged on four runs in the third inning highlighted by the Quiralte triple, a
Lia Tom double and a RBI single by
Morgan Balestreri.
Kylie Ragsdale earned the win in the circle by throwing four innings, and
Anyssa Garvin pitched the final two innings in her Warrior debut.
Stan State takes off on Thursday to travel to Las Vegas for the MSUB Desert Stinger, where they will play five games over the span of three days.
