LAS VEGAS — The Stanislaus State softball team won twice on day two of the MSUB Desert Stinger including an early-season signature win over No. 18 California Baptist, 3-2, and a strong offensive performance over the University of Mary, 11-2.
Kylie Ragsdale shut-down the nationally ranked Lancers, allowing just three hits over five innings to improve to 2-0.
Anyssa Garvin gave up a hit in two innings for the save.
Ruby Quiralte homered in the fourth to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead.
In the nightcap against the University of Mary, the Warriors sprayed 12 hits with two doubles and a homerun.
Cassidy Duke went 1-for-2 with her second homerun of the season. Her two-run bomb in the seventh highlighted the Warriors' day.
Alexus Martinez went 3-for-5 with a double,
Megan Stacy was 2-for-4,
Lia Tom drove in three runs and
Katelyn McDonald also doubled.
Stan State scored eight runs in the top of the first inning for a 8-0 lead. The Warriors had five hits in the inning and were helped by four Marauder errors.
Kristin Borst earned the win giving up only one earned run on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. She struck out 11 batters without a walk.
The Warriors, now 4-1, have won three straight while out-scoring teams 23-8 in the process. Stan State will wrap-up tournament play on Sunday with a 11:30 a.m. game against Concordia-Irvine.
