No. 6 Wildcats steal two more wins from Stan State

CHICO – In the final game of the series against No. 6 Chico State, the Stanislaus State softball team was just shy of series split, losing both 0-5 and 3-4 at the Wildcat Softball Field on Saturday.
 
The nationally ranked Wildcats showcased their abilities taking two more games from the Warriors who are now 12-10 and 7-9. No. 6 Chico State advanced to 15-2, 10-2 in league.
 
After losing game one with only four hits and no runs, the Warriors came out stronger for the nightcap. Cassidy Duke was 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Nicolette Vizcaino went 2-for-4, and also had an RBI.
 
The Warriors offense in game two was highlighted by Duke's triple to right center in the third inning, driving in two runs and giving the Warriors the lead 2-1.
 
Heading into the final inning of the game with a one run lead on the Wildcats, fielding errors by Alexus Martinez and Katelyn McDonald help the Wildcats load the bases. Back to back singles hit by Chico State drove in two more Wildcat runs giving them the win.
 
Anyssa Garvin took the loss in game one, pitching six innings and giving up two earned runs on nine hits. She is now 2-3 in the circle. Kylie Ragsdale pitched the final game of the series, suffering the loss with two earned runs on 11 hits, and is now 6-4 from the circle.
 
Stan State will be back at the Warrior Softball Field next weekend with a two-day series against San Francisco State on Friday and Saturday.
