HAYWARD – On the first day of the series against Cal State East Bay the Stanislaus State softball team went 0-2 against the Pioneers, losing 1-4 and 3-8 at the Pioneer Softball Field on Thursday.
Adding two losses to their record the Warriors are now 12-16 overall, 8-14 in the CCAA. The Pioneers advanced to 16-12 and 12-12.
In game two
Ruby Quiralte hit a home run on her only hit of the day. Quiralte along with
Deja Guzman earned Stan State's two RBI's. The most accurate Warriors at the plate were
Kylie Ragsdale going 2-for-3, and
Nicolette Vizcaino finishing 2-for-4.
The Warriors put themselves on the board quickly in game two, scoring two runs in the first inning. A fielding error by the Pioneers allowed Stan State to run in two batters in one play, giving the Warriors a quick lead. Quiralte's homer past center field in the third inning gave the Stan State its final score.
Cal State East Bay scored all eight runs in the first inning, six of which were due to home runs hit by Sarah Fukushima and Jennifer Palmares.
Ragsdale was the losing pitcher in game one, throwing the first three innings. She gave up four earned runs on seven hits and walked one batter. Ragsdale is now 7-6 in the circle.
Kristin Borst suffered the loss in the nightcap giving up five earned runs on nine hits. Borst walked one batter and is now 2-4 from the circle.
The second half of the series will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Pioneer Softball Field where Stan State will play another doubleheader against Cal State East Bay.
