SAN MARCOS — After a four-hour delay to the start of the series due to come facility maintenance conditions, host Cal State San Marcos scored seven unanswered runs to take game one of the series, 7-2, on Saturday.
The scheduled doubleheader was changed to a single game on Saturday when the contest was finally able to get underway at 3 p.m. The teams will play a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
The Warriors scored twice in the fourth inning for a 2-0 run but was kept off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Meanwhile, the Cougars tied the game in the fourth and scored runs in the sixth through eighth innings, including a three-run eighth to put away.
Stanislaus State is now 20-13 overall and 10-12 in the CCAA North. Cal State San Marcos improved to 14-18 overall and 4-16 in the South.

Gino Franceschetti in the fourth inning gave Stan State a 2-0 lead.
Aldo Koutsoyanopulos was the only Warriors with multiple hits as he went 2-for-3.
