Former Stanislaus State women's soccer All-American
Katelyn Nebesnick was named to the U.S. Futsal Women's National Team recently. She made her debut in the Women's World Cup this week in Spain.
The standout midfielder, originally from Gilroy, was selected to the national team on May 5. The team departed for Spain on May 10
and opened tournament competition with a 3-2 win over France on Wednesday.
"This is really exciting for Katelyn and the entire Warrior family," said head coach
Gabriel Bolton. "Katelyn is one of the best players ever to wear a Warrior uniform. Her skill on the ball is absolutely amazing. We are very proud of everything she has achieved in the Futsal world since her graduation from Stan State."
Nebesnick (2011-2014) is the second Warrior to be called into a U.S. Women's National Team. Former Warrior Karenee Demery played with the U23 U.S. Women's National Team while she was a Warrior.
All Women's Futsal World Cup matches are streamed live on
