9/27/2017 10:41:00 AM

In its final road trip, for a while (finally), the men's soccer team will trek north to visit Sonoma State and Humboldt State this weekend.

Team Records: 2-3-3, 0-2-2 CCAA [CCAA Standings]

Friday
Warriors at Sonoma State (5-3-1, 2-1-0 CCAA), Seawolf Soccer Field, Rohnert Park, 3 p.m. | [Live Stats] [Live Video]

Sunday
Warriors at Humboldt State (6-1-0, 3-0-0 CCAA), College Creek Field, Arcata, 2 p.m. | [Live Stats] [Live Video]

SERIES NOTES: Sonoma State snapped a three-game losing streak against the Warriors a season ago and now leads the series 19-9-3. The Warriors won in Rohnert Park for the first time on Oct. 23, 2015 but are now just 1-12-2 on the Seawolf Soccer Field … The Warriors also had to travel to Humboldt State last season and lost 3-2 on Sept. 23, 2016. Stanislaus does hold a 13-6-1 advantage over the Lumberjacks and are 12-3-1 during CCAA action. Stan State is 6-1-1 the last eight times in Arcata.

FREQUENT MILES: So far this season the Warriors have already logged nearly 6,500 miles of travels in the first seven away contests. This weekend, they will add in a few more. The Sonoma-Humboldt trip, said to be one of the toughest road trips in the CCAA, is approximately 770 miles round trip to and from Turlock. Do the math. That makes the Warriors' mileage count up to nearly 7,300 miles.

AT LAST, A HOME-STAND: After this trip the Warriors will finally enjoy some home cooking, and hopefully some home field advantage. Stanislaus will play its next five matches at home, from Oct. 5 to Oct. 22. The stretch begins with a non-conference tilt against Benedictine-Mesa on Thursday, Oct. 5 and concludes with the final regular season home match on Sunday, Oct. 22 versus Cal State East Bay.

STELLAR AT THE NET: Patrick Colombana turned in perhaps the best goalkeeper performances of the season last Sunday in the 0-0 draw against San Francisco State. Colombana stopped five shots on frame, including two spectacular saves. He also turned away a Gator penalty kick try in the 20th minute for his second shutout of the season.

LETS GET A GOAL!: Obviously the Warriors are trying hard to get a goal in the net on offense. But some bad luck and funky soccer plays have prevented a score lately. A rare occurance on Sunday kept the Warriors off the board when an Adrian Yepez shot bounced off both posts. Another attempt danced in front of the goal line but never went in. Stan State has not scored a goal since Sept. 9 — 487 minutes ago, despite out-shooting opponents, 63-46 in the last four contests.

AMONG THE CCAA LEADERS: Stan State leads all CCAA teams with 49 corner kicks with 6.13 corner kicks per match … Patrick Colombana is 9th with his 1.67 GAA and Tomas Zajfert is fourth with a save percentage of .824. Zajfert is also 8th with 3.50 saves per game.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: Sonoma State lost at Humboldt State last Sunday, 3-2 to end a four-game winning streak. The Seaswolves are 2-1-1 at home so far this season. Four players have three or more goals, led by Sebastian Santos with four. Mitch North has played every minute in goal and has a 1.44 GAA and a save percentage of .729 … Humboldt State is the hottest team in the conference right now with a six-match winning streak. They beat Sonoma State on Sunday to remain undefeated at 3-0 during CCAA play. Isaiah Dairo leads the Jacks with three goals and two assists. Christopher Cherms has a 0.83 GAA and .854 saves percentage, which is second best in the CCAA.
