ROHNERT PARK – On Saturday night at the Wolves's Den the Stanislaus State volleyball team lost in straight sets to Sonoma State 13-25, 23-25, and 20-15.
With yet another loss the Warriors are now 0-14 overall and 0-6 in the California Collegiate Association while the Seawolves have advanced to 12-13 and 6-0 in league.
Stan State played impressive defense at the net on Saturday night, out-blocking the Seawolves 16-6 with four Warriors tallying at least two blocks.
Morgan Miller led with six blocks, Ramey Garder had four blocks, and
Sierra Adams and
Rebecca Conley each had two blocks.
Sara Schell and
Rachel Klopfer had a block apiece to round out the Warriors' total.
Klopfer led the offense with 11 kills and Schell followed with eight kills. The Warrior setters split time running the offense,
Breanna Cannon with 16 assists and
Jordan Tilley with 10 assists. Schell led the Stan State defense with 16 digs and two more Warriors dug in the double digits. Cannon had 13 digs and Tilley totaled 10 digs.
Stan State was unable to defend the Seawolves' offense, giving up a six and seven-point run in the first set. Eight out of the 13 points were won by Seawolf kills. The Warriors came back with a five-point run (5-2) to start out set two, and stayed with Sonoma State for the entirety of the set, frequently switching possession of the serve. Stan State fought to keep the match alive in set three, but once again the Seavolves' offense was unbeatable.
Calan Seitz led Sonoma State's offense with 13 kills and Courtney Seda facilitated the offense with 34 assists. Megan Bohorquez was SSU'S leading defender with 18 digs and Seda added 15 more digs for Sonoma State.
Next week the Warriors will be back at home for a stretch of five matches played at Fitzpatrick Arena. The first of the five will take place on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
