Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Offense clicking as Warriors dominate Sonoma State, 4-0

TURLOCK — The offense is clicking for Stanislaus State men's soccer.

For the third straight match the Warriors scored three or more goals, and all of those resulted in victories. This time, on a Sunday midday at Warrior Stadium, the Warriors netted a 4-0 win over Sonoma State for their third straight win.

The quartet of Stanislaus scorers — Javier Ceballos, Sean Bender, Adrian Yepez and Antonio Hernandez — netted goals in the win as the Warriors improved to 6-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 in CCAA action.

These four Warriors have now combined for 16 of the team's 26 goals for the season.

In what once was a marquee match-up between these two programs, with Sonoma State the elite squad, the Warriors and the Seawolves found themselves near the bottom of the standings heading into today. Stan State has turned the tides, however, now with four victories in the last five head-to-head meetings. SSU leads all-time 20-11-3.

Sunday's four-goal win marks the best ever outcome for Stanislaus versus Sonoma State.

Sonoma State remains at the CCAC cellar with a 0-8-2 record (2-9-3 overall).

Stan State left little doubt in the match, scoring at will in the first half with three goals within an 11-minute stretch.

Ceballos scored at 19:39 to get the offense started on a goal assisted by Yepez. Bender made it 2-0 in the 25th minute scoring on a through ball. Then Yepez quickly made it 3-0 in the 31st minute on a rebound shot.

Hernandez made it a four-goal win with his second goal of the season in the 72nd minute.

Yepez and Bender both also scored in Friday's 3-0 win over Humboldt State. They lead the team each with five goals this season. The Warriors have now scored 10 goals in the last three contests (16 in the first 10).
