CARSON — Without the services of two key players in the lineup, the short-handed Stanislaus State women's volleyball team suffered a four-set loss at Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday night.
Against the last place in the CCAA South, the Warriors dropped the 25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18 decision to fall to 13-8 overall and 6-7 in the CCAA. In fact, CCAA South teams won all six North-South match-ups Friday night with all contests scheduled in Southern California. CCAA North leader Cal State Monterey Bay has a bye this weekend.
Cal State Dominguez Hills (8-12, 3-9) extended its winning streak to three with the win at the Torodome.
Stan State was without
Sierra Adams, who is among the CCAA leaders in kills and attacking percentage, and
Mya Marshall. Marshall had started at libero, plays the back row and is also an outside hitter. Both Warriors are out with concussions.
Adams was coming off back-to-back 20-kill matches last weekend, including a career-high 24 in last Saturday's win over Cal State San Marcos. She's averaging 4.10 kills per set with a .330 percentage.
Of those Warriors who were able to play Friday night,
Ramey Gardner led the way with 15 kills and
Yisel Perez added a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs. The next closest was
Alana Wilson-Reid with seven kills.
Stanislaus State will travel to face No. 10 ranked Cal State L.A. Saturday night. The Golden Eagles have won six straight and are now 19-1 overall and 11-1 in the CCAA.
