LOS ANGELES — Unable to field a team at it's best, the Stanislaus State women's volleyball team was not able to challenge the 10th-ranked Golden Eagles as Cal State L.A. took a 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 straight-set win over the Warriors.
Low numbers across the board for the Warriors against one of the best teams in the country, Stanislaus State dropped its second straight — and four of last five — to fall to 13-9 overall and 6-8 in the CCAA North. The Warriors remain in third place, but three other teams are closely behind as the regular season winds down.
Saturday night at Cal State L.A., which won its seventh straight win to improve to 20-1, 12-1. The Golden Eagles had three players in double digits in kills and collectively hit .356. It also had 13 total blocks.
Ramey Gardner led the Warriors with seven kills and
Alana Wilson-Reid five.
Breanna Cannon had 18 assists and nine digs. The 18 assists was a season-low with Cannon as the primary setter (Stan State had started the season with two playing a 6-2 alignment).
The Warriors have four matches left in the regular season with a Tuesday contest at San Francisco State before finishing off with three straight home matches.
