SAN FRANCISCO — In a key divisional match-up Tuesday night, the Warriors dropped a four-set decision to San Francisco State as teams jockey for position for the upcoming conference tournament.
Host SF State proved strong on the attack — getting three players in double digits in kills — and hit .343 on the night to beat Stanislaus State, 25-26, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21. The Gators pulled into a tie for third place with the Warriors at 6-9 in conference play. The top four teams in each division qualify for hte CCAA Championship tournament, Nov. 8-10, in Turlock.
Both teams are just one game ahead of the 5-10 Chico State.
Sierra Adams returned to the court after missing last weekend's trip due to a concussion. She led the Warriors with 10 kills (.360 on 25 tries and one error) but the team collectively hit just .193.
Alana Wilson-Reid had seven kills and three block assists,
Chelsey Berry led with 13 digs and
Bella Rivera had 19 assists.
The Warriors host two contests this weekend in hopes of staying in the race. Last place Humboldt State (0-14 CCAA) is the Warriors' next opponent on Friday with a 5 p.m. start time. Stan State host Sonoma State (4-10) on Saturday before next Saturday's regular season finale versus Chico State (5-10).
