TURLOCK — While Stanislaus State has not clinched a tournament berth, the Warriors posted a needed victory Friday evening to get closer to the goal of attending the postseason party they are hosting in a couple of weeks.
Sierra Adams led the Warriors with 13 kills as they defeated winless Humboldt State in straight sets, 25-19, 25-17, 25-21.
Stan State snapped a three-match skid to improve to 7-9 in CCAA play to remain in third place in the North Division. Fourth place SF State was idle on Friday but will face first place Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday. Chico State and Sonoma State, too, are still mathematically in the race.
The top four teams in each North and South Division will meet in Turlock, Nov. 8-10, for the CCAA Volleyball Tournament.
The Warriors also improved to 14-10 on the year and the 14-win tally ties for the the program's second most since 2003. The 2015 team won 16 matches.
Mya Marshall had a sold match Friday afternoon with the early 5 p.m. start. She had five kills and four aces with a team-leading 12 digs.
Alana Wilson-Reid chipped in seven kills. At the net Adams and
Jordon Wilson each had three total blocks.
As a team, the Warriors hit .237 with Adams going 13-3-31 for .323. Marshall hit .444 and setter
Breanna Cannon wad 4 for 5 (.800) while setting 32 kills.
Humboldt State (3-20, 0-15 CCAA) nearly rallied to win the third set, which would have been the Lumberjacks' first in 14 contests. They have lost 15 straight with the last 14 matches by 3-0 scores.
Stanislaus State have two more regular season matches left to play. Saturday night the Warriors host Sonoma State and Chico State visits next Saturday.
