SAN FRANCISCO — A really long streak is over as San Francisco State edged visiting Stanislaus State, 1-0, Friday late afternoon at Cox Stadium.
For the first time since 2000, the Gators posted a W against the Warriors. Stan State dominated in this head-to-head series with a 18-0-6 record in the last 24 meetings.
San Francisco State (8-5-2, 6-3-2 CCAA) moves into fourth place with three more points, now with 20 — just three points behind leader Chico State. The Warriors are 7-6-3, 3-5-2 in league play, tied for seventh in the standings. Stan State is three points behind sixth place Cal State L.A. with the top six teams qualify for the CCAA tournament after next weekend's play concludes.
The Warriors are home next weekend to finish the regular season schedule as they host UC San Diego (Thursday) and Cal State San Marcos (Saturday).
Tami Kwong's goal in the 72nd minute was the only one that found the back of the net in a low-offense game. Teams had nine shots each with Stan State taking three on fame to SF State's four.
Haley Crook had three saves for the Warriors.
