TURLOCK — Taking a breather from the brutal CCAA schedule, the Warriors took the pitch against UC Santa Cruz and got great offensive results Saturday night as Stanislaus State dominated in the 5-0 win over the Banana Slugs.
Sadie Ortiz,
Mayah Chambers,
Summer England,
Skyler Hoy and
Autumn Halvorsen all scored for Stan State as the Warriors moved to 6-4-2 overall on the season.
The match started an hour late due to the late-arrival of Slugs. The UCSC side was stranded in Manteca when its bus broke down. The match, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. start, finally kicked off at 8:05 p.m.
Stanislaus out-shot UC Santa Cruz (3-9-0), 16-4 and the Slugs didn't have a shot on goal. The Warriors also took eight corner kicks.
Ortiz got on the board first in the 28th minute for her fourth score of the year. Chambers made it 2-0 in the 36th minute, then
Summer England netted a goal just before the half to make it 3-0. Hoy's goal came in the 50th minute and Halvorsen finished the scoring in the 57th.
Chambers and Hoy also earned an assist on the night with
Demi Gonis assisted on two scores.
The five-goal match is the Warriors' most since a 6-0 win on Oct. 17, 2015 against UC Santa Cruz.
