Warriors fall to Cal State Los Angeles in First Conference Game

LOS ANGELES — The Stanislaus State Women's Basketball team fell to Cal State Los Angeles in its first conference game, 80-60, Saturday afternoon. The women started off strong in the first half but lost momentum in the third quarter in the setback.
 
The Warriors were up 33-30 at halftime and fought hard against CSULA but their fight was not enough to keep up with the Golden Eagles. Stanislaus State now holds a record of 0-3 overall and 0-1 in conference as they enter their home opener on November 29.
 
The leader in points for the Warriors was Lizzy Alexander with a total of 15. Alexus Kelly scored eight. Angelica Baylon had six assists and four steals, while Brittney Livingston led in rebounds with four.  
 
Stanislaus struggled in field goals in the second half with a percentage of 45 percent against CSULA who had a total percentage of 69.2 percent. The Warriors had a total of 21 turnovers which contributed to their downfall.
 
The Golden Eagles went to the line more often and were 15 for 19, when the Warriors were 6 for 11 at the free throw line.
 
CSULA's Rachael DiRegolo dominated in points with a total of 26 and behind her was Madison Adams with 22 points. DiRegolo was also the leader in rebounds with 12. Christina Delapina had eight assists.
 
The Warriors will take on the Sonoma State Seawolves in their home opener on November 29 at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena at 5:30 p.m.
