Stan State Shut Out Early in Fresno

FRESNO –Stan State took on Division I team, Fresno State, on Friday evening, December 14. The Warriors were shut out early in the game scoring only four points in the first quarter, leading to their defeat 51-86.  
 
The Bulldogs pulled out a total of 50 points in the first half and Stan was only able to score 15 points due to poor offensive play in the first half. The Warriors struggled in the first quarter with a 10 percent shooting average in the field and shooting 0-4 in three pointers.
 
There were two Warriors that reached double-digits in points Friday, Kyanna Davis with 20 and Samantha Rudd with ten. Davis was also the leader in rebounds with eight. Angelica Baylon had a good night on defense with five assists, five rebounds, and three steals.
 
Stan State brought high energy to the fourth quarter scoring more points than Fresno, but the women were not able to catch up to the Bulldogs and their quick scoring.
 
The Bulldogs had a great offensive game with four players in the doubles. Bree Delaney scored 17 points, Candice White with 13, and behind them were Kristina Cavey with 11 and Gabby Standifer with ten.
 
The Warriors women's basketball team will travel to Bellingham, Wash., on Monday, December 17, for the Vikings Holiday Hoops Classic. They will take on Simon Fraser at 5 p.m. on Monday and Western Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
