TURLOCK –After a tough fourth quarter, the Warriors fell short to the San Bernardino Coyotes 57-52 in overtime. The Warriors lost their high energy towards the end of the game Sunday night, December 30, allowing the Coyotes to take the game to overtime after ending the fourth 47-47.
The Warriors had a great first half ending the first quarter 16-5 and the second 24-17. The Warriors held a lead of 20-5 for almost ten minutes in the second until the Coyotes picked up momentum and closed the gap.
The Warriors and the Coyotes went into this game with the same record of 2-7 overall and 1-4 in conference. Now the Warriors are 2-8, and 1-5 in conference while the Coyotes are 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA.
For the Warriors,
Kyanna Davis was hot on offense with 14 points as well as rebounds with 10.
Angelica Baylon had 13 points with two steals.
Kaleigh Taylor was a great rebounder Sunday afternoon, she had eight rebounds.
Brittney Livingston had seven rebounds.
The game became too close for the Warriors as the Coyotes moved in to tie the game with 30 seconds left on the clock taking the game to overtime. The Coyotes may have fell behind in the beginning of the game but they were able to keep up their energy to almost take the lead towards the end but kept the game tied with a missed three pointer.
It was a tough game for both teams on offense and defense. The Warriors shot 27.7 percent from the field and gave up 13 points to turnovers. The women struggled in three pointers only being able to make one out of 16.
Jasmine Sauser was the leader in points for San Bernardino with 15 and behind her was LeAundra Walker-Brown with 11 points. Kayla Bibb led their defense with 12 rebounds.
The Warriors will be back home on Thursday, January 10, 2019, to take on Cal State San Marcos at 5:30 p.m. in a double header with the men's basketball team.
