ARCATA – To kick off their first CCAA weekend on the road the Stanislaus State softball team went 1-1 against Humboldt State with a 4-1 victory in the nightcap.
The Warriors are now 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference after losing the series opener 1-2. The Lumberjacks are 7-8 and 5-5 in league.
Leading Stan State to their victory,
Ruby Quiralte went 2-for-3 at the plate hitting a double and earning two RBI.
Aliyah Garvin was 2-for-4 and scored a run, and
Desiree Gonzalez and
Alanah Laupua-Vanisi each earned an RBI.
The Warriors put all four runs on the board in the first two innings, starting with the two-run double by Quiralte in the first. Gonzalez and Laupua-Vanisi hit back to back RBI singles in the second inning to total out Stan State's final score.
Despite the loss Stan State did have some good at bats in game one. In the fifth inning
Deja Guzman hit her first home run of the season, the second of her career, to score the Warriors single run and add an RBI to her resume. Both Laupua-Vanisi and
Maya Yoshiura were 2-for-3 at the plate hitting doubles, and Quiralte also went 2-for-3.
Kylie Ragsdale took the loss in the first game pitching all six innings. Ragsdale struck out three batters, walked two, and gave up two earned runs on six hits. She is now 2-3 in the circle.
Megan Stacy earned the win in game two and is now 4-0. She gave up a single earned run on six hits and struck out seven batters.
Due to weather conditions tomorrow's double header against the Lumberjacks has been postponed until further notice.
