Warriors go undefeated on second day of Desert Stinger

LAS VEGAS – On the second day of the MSUB Desert Stinger the Stanislaus State softball team went 2-0 with victories over Northwest Nazarene and Fort Lewis.
 
The Warriors started the day off strong with a 5-3 victory over the Nighthawks, and defeated Fort Lewis later in the evening 6-3.
 
Ruby Quiralte was Stan State's leader against NNU, going 2-for-2 hitting a home run, and earning four RBI. Aliyah Garvin, Katelyn McDonald, Alanah Laupa-Vanisi, Desiree Gonzalez, and Karmyn Rivera all had a single hit against Northwest Nazarene.

The Warriors started the game off strong with two runs in the first inning. Quiralte hit a single to send a runner home and an error by the Nighthawks first baseman allowed the Warriors to score again. Quiralte hit the two-run homer in the third inning to take herself and McDonald all the way around the bases. A sacrifice fly to right field by Quiralte in the fifth inning rounded out the Warriors' final score.

Kylie Ragsdale earned the win against the Nighthawks pitching 3.1 innings and is now 1-1. She gave up two runs on four hits and struck out two batters without walking a single batter.

Against Fort Lewis Gonzalez went 2-for-2 with a run, a double, and three RBI. Garvin also hit a double and earned an RBI. Alexus Martinez went 3-for-4 scoring twice, hitting a triple, and earning an RBI.
 
The Warriors scored in five seprate innings, highlighted by Gonzalez's double in the third that scored Madison Mayol and Deja Guzman. Martinez scored on a passed ball in the fourth and hit a single in the fifth to push Gonzalez to home plate. Aliyah Garvin doubled in the seventh inning to bring Martinez home and round out the Warriors' final score.
 
Kristin Borst earned the win against Fort Lewis pitching all seven innings. She gave up one earned run and struck out four batters.
 
Tomorrow morning the Warriors will wrap up the Desert stinger with one final game against Minot State at 11:30 a.m.
