Stan State takes series against the Gators, concluded with a 6-2 victory

SAN FRANCISCO – To take the series 3-1, the Stanislaus State softball team split with San Francisco State on Sunday afternoon, ending the day with a 6-2 victory over the Gators at the SFSU Softball Field.
 
Starting the day with a 1-5 loss, the Warriors are working their way up the CCAA ladder with a 13-8 overall record and an 8-6 league record. San Francisco State is now 8-16 and 5-10 in the conference.
 
Alexus Martinez dominated at the plate in the nightcap going 4-for-4, hitting a double and a triple, earning two RBI, and scoring a run. Desiree Gonzalez, Aliyah Garvin, Deja Guzman, and Alanah Laupua-Vanisi each earned an RBI against the Gators.
 
Stan first scored in the fifth inning of game two when Gonzalez hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive home pinch runner Kaitlyn Doyle. After the Gators scored their two runs in the sixth inning, the Warriors scored four more in the seventh. Martinez's triple earned her two RBI, Garvin followed suit hitting an RBI single, Guzman flew out to left field to send Madi Mayol home, and Laupua-Vanisi hit another RBI single to round out the Warriors final score.
 
Megan Stacy earned the win during the nightcap and is now 7-1 in the circle. She gave up two runs and struck out four batters in seven innings.
 
In game one Ruby Quiralte earned Stan State's single RBI and Yoshiura hit a double. Mackenzie Dekay suffered the loss in the circle pitching the first 1.2 innings and giving up five earned runs.
 
Stan State will be on the road again next weekend, with two doubleheaders at Cal State San Bernardino on Friday and Saturday.
