Seniors shine in final home games as Warriors swept Cal State Dominguez Hills

TURLOCK — All six seniors contributed in many ways during the final doubleheader at Warrior Softball Field on Saturday as Stanislaus State beat Cal State Dominguez Hills twice, 7-3 and 4-3, to complete the four-game sweep.

Bryanna Menor went 2-for-3 in both games for a four-hit Senior Day and two senior starting pitchers each went the distance and combined for 19 strikeouts as the Warriors extended their winning streak to six games.

Stanislaus State improved to 30-18 and 21-13 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. It is the program's first 30-win season since 2009. The Warriors could earn a berth into the CCAA Tournament with another win next week when they visit Cal State Monterey Bay to complete the regular season schedule.

In the circle, Karina Callazo won game one allowing two earned runs on five hits in seven innings. She struck out a career-high 11 batters. In the series finale, Kristin Borst went seven innings without allowing an earned run on four hits while fanning eight. Senior Ruby Quiralte, who went 1-for-3 in game two, handled the pitchers behind the plate.

Menor gave the Warriors their first run of the day on a solo home run in the third inning of game one. It was her second career homer. Jill Costa went 2-for-4 including a RBI double in the fourth and freshman Aliyah Garvin went 2-for-4 and drove in three scores. Alexus Martinez also drove in three runs.

Stan State would score three times in the fourth and three times in the sixth for the win.

In the finale, Katelyn McDonald went 2-for-3 with a two-run double in the first inning. Menor again went 2-for-3 and scored a run.

The Warriors will complete the regular season schedule next weekend at Cal State Monterey Bay with the first doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m.
