CARSON — Cal State Dominguez Hills scored 19 runs in Saturday's doubleheader as the Toros took both games from Stanislaus State to go up three games to one in the series.
The Toros scored early en route to a 7-5 game one win. Then a nine-run second inning led to a 12-3, nightcap victory for the home team.
Stanislaus State has now dipped six straight games and fell to 21-26 overall and 17-24 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors will have to try and salvage the road trip and avoid the series sweep by taking the finale on Sunday at Noon.
In Saturday's game one, it was 5-0 Toros by the second inning. By the end of the game, CSUDH's first five batters went 10 for 19. Dalton Duarte was 2-for-4 with five RBI. He had a double and belted his 14th home run.
Jack Large led a Stan State comeback in the eighth with four runs to get the Warriors back from trailing 7-1 to make it 7-5, but the rally came up short.
In the second game Dominguez Hills scored nine runs on seven hits in the second inning to make it 9-1.
