CHICO — The Warriors once again played fantastically but were not able to keep the momentum as they lost to host Chico State in a thrilling five-set match. The Wildcats came back from down 2-1 to win 25-20, 25-27, 20-25, 25-14, 15-9.
Sierra Adams led the Warriors with 18 kills, but Stanislaus State loss its third straight to open the conference season to dropped to 7-4, 0-3 CCAA. The Warriors, though, played well and challenged opponents in all three matches so far.
After dropping the opening set, the Warriors battled for an exciting 27-25 win, thanks to two consecutive Chico State (8-3, 1-2 CCAA) errors. Stan State hit .500 in set two and followed it with a .387 third set. However Chico State won the final two sets, including the decisive fifth.
Stanislaus again had a great blocking night, totaling 19. Adams had six assisted blocks with a solo to go with her 18 kills, which ties her career match-high.
Rachel Klopfer had 14 kills (.429) and 15 digs,
Jordon Wilson helped block five attempts and sophomore setter
Breanna Cannon had 41 assists, tying for second-best of her career.
The Warriors are at Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday at 7 p.m.
