HAYWARD — In a match where five goals were scored in the second half, the Stanislaus State men's soccer team came up on the short-end in the 3-2 loss at Cal State East Bay.
In fact, four of the goals were scored within an 18-minute window — and the Warriors scored twice during a 4-minute, 25-second span.
Javier Ceballos and
Desmond Madrigal scored goals for Stan State but the Warriors dropped their third straight CCAA match to fall to 3-4, 0-3.
Ceballos got the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute on an assist by
Daniel Galvan, but CSUEB tied it three minutes later. It took Madrigal just one-minute and 41 seconds to put Stanislaus back ahead, however, on a header goal set up by
Adrian Yepez.
The Warriors were unable to hang on to the lead, allowing a goal in the 66th minute for the equalizer. Cal State East Bay (2-3-1, 1-1-1 CCAA) scored the winner in the final minute of play on a score by Jonathan Cuevas.
Justin Motzkus started in the net for the second straight contest and picked up four saves.
