SAN BERNARDINO — Cal State San Bernardino used two early goals and held on to a CCAA victory as the host Coyotes defeated the visiting Warriors, 2-1, Sunday afternoon.
Ilena Rivera scored the only goal for Stanislaus State — a penalty kick score in the 52nd minute — in the loss. The Warriors are now 5-4-2, 2-3-1 CCAA going into a conference bye week. Stan State plays UC Santa Cruz on Saturday in a non-conference tilt at Warrior Stadium.
On Sunday, the Coyotes took an early lead in the 12th minute on a goal by Kelly Kevershan, her sixth of the season. Alyssa Campbell scored five minutes later to make it 2-0. Both scores came off Stan State turnovers.
Alyssa Herrman started in goal for the second straight match and had six saves.
Stanislaus was out-shot 14-9.
