Warriors drop another one-goal decision in loss at CSUSB

SAN BERNARDINO — The Stanislaus State men's soccer team was not able to come away with its first victory of the conference season as the Warriors dropped a 3-2 decision to Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday.

The Warriors fought hard and came back to tie the game in the second half, but a Coyote goal pushed the home team ahead. Stan State dropped to 3-7 overall and 0-6 in the CCCA heading into the bye week.

Sunday's one-goal loss was Stanislaus State's fifth one-score setback during the seven-match losing streak.

Javier Ceballos scored in the 36th minute and Joseph Mayorca netted his fourth goal of the year in the 58th minute as the equalizer. Those two goals answered two scores by CSUSB in the first half, at 7:55 and 31:49.

Jorge Avila then found the back of the net in the 67th minute to lift the Coyotes (6-4-0, 3-1-0 CCAA).

CSUSB out-shot Stan State, 17-11. The Warriors were whistled for 21 founds (versus 12 by San Bernardino).

Justin Motzkus had four saves in goal for the Stanislaus State, which hosts Bethesda on Friday at 7 p.m.
