Toler has career game in loss against Cal State San Marcos

TURLOCK –The Warriors battled through a tough loss against Cal State San Marcos Thursday evening ending in a nail-biter, 69-65. The Warriors had a tough time keeping their momentum up as they played through the fourth quarter.
 
Stan State now stands 2-7 in the CCAA and 3-10 overall. San Marcos is now 7-3 in conference and 10-4 overall.
 
San Marcos was a tough team to beat going into Thursday night's game but the Warriors held their own throughout the first three quarters. Stan State were leading 37-32 going into the second half and remained in the lead going into the fourth.
 
Three Warriors were in the double-digits led by Freshman, Lauren Toler, with 17 points. Toler had personal bests in several areas including points, rebounds, field-goals and several others. Angelica Baylon stayed on her streak of scoring double with ten points and had a season best of seven rebounds.  Brittney Livingston scored 12 points. Kaleigh Taylor led in rebounds with nine.
 
The Warriors shot 75 percent in free throws going 15-20. They scored 32 points in the paint and were able to steal 26 points off of turnovers. Even though San Marcos went into the game being third in the conference, Stan State stayed evenly matched with them throughout. San Marcos scored 36 points in the paint and only 15 points off of turnovers.
 
The women were able to keep up with the Cougars and never let them get too far ahead. The Cougars only led by seven points throughout the game and Stan State had the largest lead of ten.  
 
Stephanie Custodio led the offense for the Cougars with 17 points. Behind her were Akayla Hackson with 12 and Emma Forel with 11. Jon'Nae Vermillion destroyed with 15 rebounds.
 
The Warriors will be back at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena, Saturday, January 12, 2019, to face the No. 6 ranked, UC San Diego Tritons.
