ROHNERT PARK — Perhaps it was the fact that they didn't have the fresh legs, but the Stanislaus State women's basketball team dropped a 58-47 decision to Sonoma State Saturday afternoon at the Wolves' Den.
Sonoma State, playing in its only game of the weekend, out-shot the Warriors by a large margin in the 11-point win. The Seawolves had four players in double digits in scoring and shot 40.4 percent from the field and made half of their three-point tries to improve to 6-8 overall and 4-7 in CCAA play.
The Warriors were not able to keep the momentum gained in Thursday night's win in San Francisco to fall to 3-9 in league play (4-12 overall).
Angelica Baylon had a nice all-around game with 14 points, six assists and five steals before fouling out. She made her mark at the fre throw line, hitting 10 of 12 attempts, which accounted for a majority of the team's free throw shots. As a team, Stan State was 15 of 22.
Kyanna Davis also scored 14 and
Brittney Livingston had nine of the team's 33 rebounds.
But Sonoma State scored 18 points in the final quarter after being held to just nine in the third.
Caprina Pipion's free throw with 6:23 left tied the game at 43-43, but SSU went on a 9-0 run to pull ahead.
Stanislaus State returns home for a pair of games next week, starting with Thursday night's game against Cal State Monterey Bay.
