TURLOCK –The Warriors came up short in the fourth Saturday night when they lost momentum against the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay losing the game, 44-49. This is the Warriors second loss against the Pioneers in the 2018-19 season.
Saturday's loss breaks Cal State East Bay's four-game losing streak. Stan State is now 4-10 overall and 5-13 in conference. CSUEB is now 5-8 in conference, with an 8-11 overall record.
The women had a tough time on offense with only two Warriors reaching double digits.
Caitlin Keding scored 14 points and
Kaleigh Taylor scored 12. The leading rebounder of the night was
Kyanna Davis with eight rebounds.
Stan State led 24-22 at the half and 33-28 at the end of the third, but the Pioneers started the fourth on a 12-0 run.. The women had trouble with fouls (20) which was a leading factor in their downfall.
As a team, Stan State shot 62.5 percent for free throws, 23.1 percent from the three-point arc and 25.9 percent from the field.
Savannah McGill was the leader for the Pioneers with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Regina Sankey scored 11 points and had four steals.
The Warriors will take on the UC San Diego Tritons on Thursday in La Jolla at 5:30 p.m.
