No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino trips up Stan State on Friday evening

TURLOCK – The Warriors took on the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino Friday and fell to the Coyotes 1-6. It was a tough game for the Warriors overall and they just couldn't keep up wIth the Coyote's explosive offense. 

The Warriors fall to 0-5-0 in the CCAA and 3-7-0 overall. The Coyotes succeed to 3-1-0 in conference and 6-1-1 overall. 
 
GOALS
  • San Bernardino started out strong when Frank Daroma made their first goal from low right unassisted in the 8th minute.
  • Only 30 seconds later, Jesus Ortega came in with a goal assisted by Kevin Aguilar and Jonathan Garcia. Aguilar passed to Ortega on the right wing who bounced off a wall pass from Garcia in the box to finish the goal.
  • Omari Mark assisted Gerardo Flores for a goal in the 37th minute.
  • Exploding in the first half, Gerardo Flores scored his second goal of the game to bring the Coyotes up 4-0 in the 41st minute. He was assisted by Jeronimo Valdepena.
  • Beginning the second half the same as the first ended as Gerardo Flores came in with a hat trick in the 57th minute assisted by Jeronimo Valdepena.
  • Francisco Gomez scored a goal from low left with an assist from Jernimo Valdepena. This was Valdepena's third assist for the game.
  • The Warriors made it to the board in the 85th minute! Joseph Mayorca scored the solo goal unassisted for the Warriors!
 
GOALKEEPER NOTES
  • Debuting in his first game, Daniel Dubiel made three saves in the first half and two saves in the second.
 
A PEP TALK FROM HEAD COACH DANA TAYLOR
 
"Tough game, very tough game. We kind of got behind the eight ball early, giving up two early goals, kind of our heads went down for a while but I like the way the guys fought. You know at the end, we got a goal back," said Taylor.
 
NOTEWORTHY
  • Stanislaus State is 9-9-3 against Cal State San Bernardino since they first played each other in October 1998.
  • The last time the two teams met in September 2018, the Warriors fell to the Coyotes by one goal in a score of 2-3.
  • The Coyotes outshot the Warriors 18-5.

Stan State will be playing the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona at home on Sunday, October 13 in a doubleheader with the women. The men's game will start at 11:30 a.m.
