No. 24 Cal State L.A. barely hangs on for win over Stan State

TURLOCK — The Stanislaus State women's volleyball team hung tough against 24th ranked Cal State L.A. in four tight sets before the visiting Golden Eagles took the 3-1 decision Friday night.
 
The Warriors pushed the nationally ranked team to its limits before the 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19 LA win. Cal State L.A. improved to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in the CCAA South while the Warriors dropped their third straight to a Southern California team and are now 11-7, 6-5 CCAA North.
 
Top Warrior Performers
Sierra Adams led all players with 15 kills, including seven kills during the fourth set.
Rachel Klopfer had 12 kills and 11 digs for her fifth double-double this season.
Kiara Erving had six total blocks with two solos in three sets played.
Eyriana Eatmon had 14 digs with 16 assists.
Krista Hernandez dug 16 balls.
 
Team Stats
• Neither team hit particularly well Friday night. Cal State L.A. was .160 and the Warriors .098.
• L.A. had 25 hitting errors and 17 service errors. Seven of those service errors came in the third set. They did balanced it out a little bit with eight aces.
• The Warriors had 17 total blocks with 10.5 team blocks. They were dominating the blocking game at the net until L.A. picked up its blocking game in the fourth.
• Cal State L.A. featured a number of imported talent with all of its key players from either Brazil or Puerto Rico.
 
Stan State Notes
• Friday's loss was just the Warriors' second on home court this season.
• Stan State is 0-3 against the CCAA South and 6-2 versus the North.

Saturday will be Senior Night with three Warriors – Sierra Adams, Cali Miller and Jordon Wilson -- being recognized in a pre-match ceremony. First serve against Cal State Dominguez Hills is at 7 p.m. The Toros beat Chico State in five Friday night.
