UCLA pulls away in second half in historical exhibition game for Stan State

LOS ANGELES — In a David versus Goliath match-up, the Stanislaus State Warriors gave their fans a glimpse of perhaps what's to come this upcoming regular season.

The Warriors played hard and proved to be resilient before the UCLA Bruins' size and athleticism outlasted them in the 87-57 exhibition contest at Pauley Pavilion.

Stanislaus State led early on, and as late as the third media timeout, in the first half. After UCLA closed out the first half with a 27-10 run and led as many as 18 points, the Warriors roared back and got within 10 points seven minutes into the second half.

"It was a great experience for us. It was an honor to be able to coach here and play here and we have UCLA to thank for that."

"Overall we defended at a high level. We wouldn't match the physicality on the glass. They dominated us on the glass, but overall I am very, very pleased with how we played."

Up Next
The Warriors will take on another Division I opponent in an exhibition contest on Tuesday. Stanislaus State will make the sure drive to Stockton to play Pacific.
