STOCKTON — Similar to last week's game against another Division I opponent, the Stanislaus State men's basketball team couldn't keep up with the quicker and bigger athletes as the Warriors lost to Pacific Tuesday night.
The Warriors lost 69-47 but trailed by just 10 points at the half before the Pacific Tigers pulled away late in the game.
Brandon Thomas led the Warriors with 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting and
Vida Faniel scored eight points with five rebounds.
However, Stanislaus State shot just 13 for 44 for the game (29.5 percent). The Warriors also just 5 for 19 (.263) from distance, including 1-for-10 beyond the arc in the second half.
Pacific was led by McCray with 16 points (8 for 10 shooting) with eight rebounds while the team shot 49 percent from the floor. The Tigers also out-rebounded the Warriors 39-21.
Stanislaus State will open its regular season, against Division II teams, on Friday when it participates in the Spirit of the Sisters Conference Challenge at Holy Names. The Warriors take on Notre Dame de Namur Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Oakland.
