TURLOCK –The Warriors bring in another successful win with two second half goals! It was a tough game in the beginning but the women came out kickin' in the second half when they scored two goals back-to-back to win the game. The game was tied for less than three minutes until
Sadie Ortiz scored the game-winning goal.
The Warriors succeed to 12-3-0 overall and 6-3-0 in the CCAA. The Wildcats are now 8-6-1 overall and 4-5-0 in conference.
GOALS
- Chico State found themselves on the board first when Jordan Doukakis scored from low right assisted by Abbie Jones in the 18th minute.
- Once again, the Warriors come out hot in the second half! Ilena Rivera scored in the 73rd minute assisted by Julia Cummings.
- In the 76th minute, Sadie Ortiz scored a beautiful goal unassisted from low right after battling a Chico player.
GOALKEEPER NOTES
- By the end of the first half, Alyssa Herrman had completed two saves.
- Herrman completed a total of five saves.
AN EXCITED HEAD COACH
"That was a fantastic comeback against a quality opponent. The key for us was just to be more aggressive with our possession. We did that in the second half," said head coach
Gabriel Bolton, "Lena and Sadie led the way not just by scoring goals but by having a very aggressive attacking mindset. That's what great players do. They lead."
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 12-17-7 against the Wildcats since they first met in September 1998.
- In their last match, the Warriors tied the Wildcats, 1-1, in October 2018.
- The Warriors outshot the Wildcats 24-8. 12-8 for shots on goal.
