TURLOCK – The men's soccer team faced yet another tough match but fought throughout the game. Stan State lost to the Seawolves of Sonoma State on Friday, 0-3.
The Warriors are now 3-12-0 overall and 0-10-0 in the CCAA. Sonoma will succeed to 6-7-1 overall and 4-4-0 in the conference.
GOALS
- Sonoma State had a strong second half as Kyle Owings scored in the 25th minute. He was assisted by Eduardo Rodriguez.
- Eduardo Rodriguez scored in the 24th minute with an assist from Brian Field.
- The Seawolves took a far lead in the 20th minute when Owings scored his second goal to have the Seawolves leading by three. He scored unassisted out of low left.
GOALKEEPER NOTES
- At the half, Daniel Dubiel made two saves. He finished the game with the two saves as Justin Motzkus would be the starting goalkeeper for the second half.
- Motzkus made an incredible save in the 27th minute when Sonoma tried to score in high right.
- Motzkus completed the match with two saves.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 11-20-3 against the Seawolves since they first played in September 1998.
- The last time the two teams met the Warriors shut out the Seawolves 4-0 in October 2018.
