FRESNO – The Warriors looked as if the Sunbirds would outshoot them in the first half but they didn't back down. Stan State rose to victory in the second half as they picked up their momentum and defeated the Sunbirds, 79-64.
The Warriors are now 4-3 overall and remain 2-0 in the CCAA. The Sunbirds are now 2-3 overall and have yet to play a conference game.
TUESDAY NIGHT'S TOP PERFORMERS
- By halftime, Kyanna Davis was already dominating once again with 11 points and eight rebounds.
- Another double-double for Davis! Davis was the leader in points with 20 and rebounds with 16. Davis made her season best in rebounds as well as career best.
- Lizzie Moore and Kaleigh Taylor both shot double digits as well. Moore with 12 points and Taylor with 16.
- Davis was also the leader in assists with four.
- Angelica Baylon led her team with four steals.
TEAM PERFORMANCE
- The Warriors shot 46.2 percent from the three-point line and had a great night with free throws at 67.9 percent.
- They went 19-28 for free throws.
- Stan State scored 42 points in the paint and was able to score 15 off turnovers.
KEY POINTS OF THE GAME
- The Warriors were down by as much as 13 in the first quarter until the Warriors made a great run in the second half and ended the first half only down by three at 39-42.
- The Warriors came back in the second half to go into the fourth quarter leading by two.
- Stan State took the fourth quarter alone when they scored 16 and the Sunbirds only scored three.
- The Warriors outshot the Sunbirds across the board.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 9-4 against the Sunbirds since they first met in November 1998.
- The last time the two teams met the Warriors won, 84-60, on November 21, 2017 in Fresno.
