SAN FRANCISCO — Despite a career night by
Xavier Francois, the Stanislaus State men's basketball team was not able to hold off a strong shooting night by Western Oregon as the Wolves stay unbeaten after Saturday night's game.
Western Oregon edged the Warriors, 75-72, in the second night of the Gator Gobble at San Francisco State. Stanislaus State concludes the non-conference portion of the schedule at 5-2 and will have all CCAA games the rest of the way.
Western Oregon is now 5-0.
Top Warriors of the Game
•
Xavier Francois scored a career-high 27 points on a prolific shooting night. He was 11 of 17 from the field including a three-pointer. He also pulled eight rebounds, blocked a shot and had two steals. His previous career high was 19 points set on game one of this season on Nov. 8 against Notre Dame de Namur.
• Francois is just the second Warrior to have a 20-point game this season.
Ty Davis netted 22 at Seattle Pacific on Nov. 12.

Vida Faniel notched his first double-double of his career with 13 points and 10 rebounds. In fact it was his first double-digit rebounding game.

Darius Scott scored 11 points with eight rebounds.

Turning Points of the Game
• Western Oregon used a 8-0 run midway in the second half to turn a seven-point Stan State lead into an one-point Wolves advantage.
• Back to back Stanislaus layups did give the Warriors the lead back at 64-61, but WOU took off on another 7-0 run to take command of the game with a 68-64 lead.

Luis Salgado's layup with seven seconds left got the Warriors within one at 73-72, but a pair of Darius Lubom free throws sealed the game for WOU.
Inside the Numbers
• WOU shot 50 percent from the field and 42.9 percent (9 for 21) from distance. The Warriors were 39.7 percent overall and just 4 of 20 from the three-point arc.
• The Wolves were 22 for 28 from the field throw line. Darius Lubom was 10 for 10 to finish with 24 points.
• Stan State scored 40 points in the paint, many of those were by
Xavier Francois.
• The Warriors scored 23 points off 15 WOU turnovers.
• In both Stan State losses this season, opponents shot 50 percent or better.
