Four Warriors in double figures in victory over tournament host Holy Names

OAKLAND — With another all-round team effort, the Stanislaus State men's basketball team beat Holy Names, 81-75, Saturday night to conclude the Spirit of the Sisters Conference Challenge with a 2-0 record.
 
Four players were in double-digits in scoring, for the second straight night, as the Warriors rallied in the second half then held off a late charge by the host team for the win. As a team the Warriors shot 60.9 percent from the floor.
 
Top Stan State Performers
Xavier Francois earned a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Vida Faniel was 8 for 10 from the field to led with 19 points.
Darius Scott also netted 19 points, 8 of them from the free throw line (he was 8 for 9 at the foul line). Scott also had seven rebounds.
Ty Davis scored 18 points with five boards and four assists.
Luis Salgado pulled seven rebounds with three assists and had three steals.
 
Going to the Free Throw Line
• The Warriors were 22 for 33 from the free throw line Saturday night, making it second night in a row that they score 20-plus points from the charity stripe. They were 24 for 28 there Friday night.
Ty Davis went 8-for-14 from the foul line Saturday.
Darius Scott was 8 for 9.
 
Key Points in the Game
• Stan State trailed by as many as nine points in the first half, at 20-11, with 11:58 on the clock.
• The Warriors gave up a six-point lead in the second half.
• An 8-0 Stan State run, capped by a Vida Faniel three-pointer at 4:31 left to play gave the Warriors a 7-point lead.
• The Warriors' biggest lead was actually nine points, 81-72, with six seconds left, until Justin Chambers nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer for the final score.
