TURLOCK – The Warriors played a rough game Saturday night as they went back and forth with the Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles. Stan State held them down until the fourth quarter when Cal State L.A. took off to beat the Warriors in a thrilling end, 85-82.
The Warriors snapped a four-game winning streak and are now 5-4 and 3-1 in the CCAA. The Golden Eagles are now 2-3 in the CCAA and 4-5 overall.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE NIGHT
- Kyanna Davis led the team wtih 21 points and eight rebound — 12 points and six rebounds came in the first half.
- Jayla Green had a season high Saturday night as she scored 13 points and made six rebounds.
- Also shooting double digits were Angelica Baylon with 15 points and Brittney Livingston with 12.
- Baylon led with six assists and two blocks.
- Taylor Pilot had a great five steals.
TEAM PERFORMANCE
- The team had a slow start in the first few minutes of the game but eventually picked up their momentum and came out of the first quarter leading 23-19.
- The first half went back and forth with the Golden Eagles leading for the majority but de ja vu as the Warriors came back and went into halftime up 42-40.
- The Warriors shot 62.1 percent from the free throw line and went 28-71 from the field.
- The team scored 38 points in the paint and 33 points off turnovers.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 23-20 against the Golden Eagles since they first met in December 1998.
- The last time the two teams met the Warriors won 66-54 on February 28, 2019.
