TURLOCK – Despite a chilly night, the Warriors' bats were hot as they overcame the weather defeating the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur, 7-1.
The Warriors and the Argonauts have not met since the 2017 season and the Warriors came out strong to continue a winning streak against NDNU.
After losing four straight, the Warriors were able to come back in this win and are now 3-6 overall. Notre Dame de Namur is now 0-3 after losing two straight to William Jessup earlier in the month.
The Warriors went the full seven innings almost holding off the Argonauts scoreless until a wild pitch that plated a run in the seventh.
Kyndra Marzorini pitched an incredible game, striking out 11, one from tying Stan State's record for strikeouts in a single game. The freshman earned the win for the night with 145 pitches. Marzorini is now 2-2 in her rookie season.
Stan State came out hot in the first inning, scoring four of the seven runs at the very start.
Alexus Martinez and
Kaitlyn Doyle scored after
Maya Yoshiura reached second on a NDNU error.
Lia Tom would drive in
Aliyah Garvin after a single through right side. Yoshiura scored the fourth run on another error. The Warriors scored three times in the third to go up 7-0.
Tom and Martinez went 2-3,
Deja Guzman drove in two scores and went 1-2.
The Warriors had a total of eight hits with no errors.
For Notre Dame de Namur, Julia Jones scored in the seventh on a wild pitch after Abby Arzaga was walked. Sofia Garcia took her first loss in the circle but only two of the seven runs were earned. NDNU committed six errors in the game.
The softball team travels to Carson this weekend to take on Cal State Dominguez Hills in a four-game series.
